Droids: This week we have a treat for our fellow geeks! We get to sit down with the Crazy Red Cosplay! Thank you for sitting down with us for an installment of Cosplayer Spotlight!
Droids: Easy/typical questions first. What was the first convention you attended?
Crazy Red: What was the most memorable part of that convention? The first convention I have ever attended was Forest City comic con back in 2014. I was shy and was not sure what to expect but the experience was truly amazing. Everyone was so friendly and seeing all the costumes that everyone worked so hard on was breathtaking. I will never forget how comfortable and at home I felt at an instant.
Droids: Is there a cosplay you will not do? If so, and Why?
Crazy Red: The only cosplay I will not do is the new Harley Quinn from the Suicide Squad movie. The reason I will not do this cosplay is because I feel compared to the classic Harley Quinn she has been vastly over sexualized and that she has been changed to such an extent that she is no longer the same character I grew to love.
Droids: What was your favorite cosplay costume that you've done so far?
Crazy Red: I enjoy all my cosplay costumes I have done for different reasons but I would have to say Harley Quinn has been my favorite. Her personality and crazy nature is fun to imitate.
Droids: Do you have a favorite convention? If so, which one is it, and why?
Crazy Red: I have been to several conventions big and small. I enjoy the small ones like London comic con because I get more one on one time with other cosplayers and guest stares but sadly in big conventions this is not quite possible. However I do enjoy the bigger conventions because I find they get the bigger names like Mark Hamill who I had the honor to meet. You also get to meet cosplayers and people all around the world in the bigger conventions which I find amazing.
Droids: What was the hardest costume for you to make to date? What made it so difficult?
Crazy Red: All my costumes had there difference degree of difficulty. The hardest one to make I would have to say was my Harley Quinn Princess Leia cross over because this was not a cross over that I had seen be done I had to refer to more of my imagination then pictures for references.
Droids: Is there a cosplayer that you look up to for inspiration?
Crazy Red: I have many friends who are fellow cosplayers whose hard work is always astounding. Who have helped me and inspired me in more ways than I can even explain. They have become not only friends but a family. Margaret marry…. Maryann sawyer …. Ree of Scarlet De Vil - Cosplay and Modelling..Ontario Doctor Doom and a big thanks to London Batman who introduced me to cosplay
Droids: Is there a Con that you have not gone to yet but aspire to do so?
Crazy Red: I really want to go to Yeti Con but sadly have not had the chance to yet.
Droids: Do you have a funny experience from a comic con that you want to share?
Crazy Red: At one of my first cons I was not quite sure who would be there. I was in my Catwomen cosplay walking around checking out all the booths and guests. Suddenly someone in an ape costume comes up to me making monkey sounds. I asked multiple times who it was but just got monkey sounds back. He kept on following me around the con… It was pretty much an ape chasing around catwomen at the con was not till weeks later I found out who it was.
Droids: Is there anything else you want to add about cosplay or yourself in general or perhaps promote something that may not have already been covered?
Crazy Red: Cosplaying has been an amazing experience for me it has helped increase my confidence. I have had so many amazing experiences working with others and raising money for Sick Kids foundation, kidney foundation, Huntington disease and many more!
Droids: It was an absolute pleasure sitting down with you! Congratulations on your continued success as an amazing cosplayer! We hope to see you at a Convention some time!
