Cosplayer Spotlight: The DayWalker
Updated: May 28, 2019
Every month we interview a new unique cosplayer to help them grow their communities. I came across this cosplayer via Instagram because Wesley Snipes started following him. So this week, we introduce to you, the Day Walker!
Droids: This week we have a treat for our fellow geeks! We get to sit down with The Daywalker! Thank you for sitting down with us for an installment of Cosplayer Spotlight! The Daywalker: You are welcome I'm very happy to be here.
Droids: Easy/typical questions first. What was the first convention you attended? What was the most memorable part of that convention?
The Daywalker : Unintentionally; the first convention I attended was the London MCM Expo at the Excel Centre, 2012.
Droids: Is there a cosplay you will not do? If so, and Why?
The Daywalker :I am only one character and that's Blade. Even though I'm a professional Cosplayer, the goal and the mission has always been for me to work towards becoming the next Blade, with the blessing of the great Wesley Snipes. This is why I only appear as Blade. Just think of it as me embodying Blade himself.
Droids: Do you have a favorite convention? If so, which one is it, and why?
The Daywalker : No I do not have a particular favorite convention as I enjoy them all. Each has its unique characteristics and in their own way enjoyable.
Droids: What was the hardest costume for you to make to date? What made it so difficult?
The Daywalker: My costume designer, Natalie Watterson, will be making an exact copy of the bullet-proof vest from Blade 2 and 3. The beast is in the detail and she says that will be particularly challenging for her. She is the creative genius, I can't sew to save my life. I'm great with my sword, but she's awesome with a sewing machine.
Droids: Is there a cosplayer that you look up to for inspiration?
The Daywalker: No, because the only inspiration I take is from the character Blade. (Blade 1). I did have a boost of motivation when my photos were liked by the great man himself. It's great knowing that he follows my page. I take that as a blessing and an endorsement.
Droids: Is there a Con that you have not gone to yet but aspire to do so?
The Daywalker :San Diego Comicon.
Droids: Is there anything else you want to add about cosplay or yourself in general or perhaps promote something that may not have already been covered?
The Daywalker :I am blessed and lucky to have a fantastic team behind me, from my publicist, my costume designer, my armorer/principle swordsman to my wonderful fight crew, who allow me to kick their butts at every performance (making me look good). Currently we're pushing hard and fast in order to become the next Blade on Netflix. So everything we are doing now centers on bringing me as Blade to everyone's home.
Droids: It was an absolute pleasure sitting down with you! Congratulations on your continued success as an amazing cosplayer!
Thank you very much.
We hope to see you at a Convention some time!
