Cosplayer Spotlight: Panterona Cosplay

Updated: May 29, 2019

Droids: This week we have a treat for our fellow geeks! We get to sit down with the beautiful, Panterona Cosplay!

Thank you for sitting down with us for an installment of Cosplayer Highlight!

Panterona: Yea man! Thanks so much for having me!!

Droids: Easy/typical questions first. What was the first convention you attended? What was the most memorable part of that convention?

Panterona: My first con was the first convention ever in my home country of Trinidad and Tobago called Anime City. It was the first one ever so we really didn't know what to expect and walked in wide eyed and excited about basically everything haha~!

I remember sitting and watching my favorite anime of all time on the big screen ( Rurounin Kenshin/Samurai X) and being completely wowed. I just ran around like a kid in a playground checking everything out from the games to the merchandise to the single cosplayer at the entire con who just happened to go to my primary school haha, it was a blast!

Droids: Is there a cosplay you will not do? If so, and Why?

Panterona: Hmm basically anything I find too revealing or if it's a character or design I don't like hahaha

Droids: What was your favorite cosplay costume that you've done so far?

Panterona: Demona from Gargoyles!

Droids: Do you have a favorite convention? If so, which one is it, and why?

Panterona: Hmmm at the moment it's ALIAS Entertainment Expo in Trinidad and Tobago!

Droids: What was the hardest costume for you to make to date? What made it so difficult?

Panterona: That would definitely still be Demona, I initially thought it was impossible to make accurately and convincingly but with some help from the guys on the Predator forums, I was able to make a latex muscle suit and truly bring one of my favorite childhood characters to life! It took me 8 months in total to build.

Droids: Is there a cosplayer that you look up to for inspiration?

Panterona: Not anyone in particular, I can be inspired by anyone really. I think each person has something that I can learn from them that could help make me better. That being said, there are sooo many cosplayers whose work I admire, far too many to name in this interview, I'm a stickler for a well built and divinely crafted costume, intricate details touch my tralala.....my ding ding dong. (someone stop me...please)

Droids: Is there a Con that you have not gone to yet but aspire to do so?

Panterona: YES! Try conS plural! I would love to hit up Dragon Con, Anime Expo, SDCC and NYCC one day!

Droids: Do you have a funny experience from a comic con that you want to share?

Panterona: Hmmm not particularly, but there was that one time this guy thought I was putting on a Caribbean accent for the entire con weekend. He was quite perplexed and finally confronted me about it on the Sunday night and I could not stop laughing. He legit thought I was faking it the entire time! It stopped being funny when he asked if I was Jamaican tho.....hahahaha :D

Droids: Is there anything else you want to add about cosplay or yourself in general or perhaps promote something that may not have already been covered? Panterona: Oh be sure to check out my FB page and IG for all my costume and convention updates! And always cosplay for you, make sure you're happy because there is no way you will ever be able to please everyone else.

Droids: It was an absolute pleasure sitting down with you! Congratulations on your continued success as an amazing cosplayer!

We hope to see you at a Convention some time!
