Cosplayer Spotlight: Amazon Princess Wonder Woman
Updated: May 28, 2019

Droids: This week we have a treat for our fellow geeks! We get to sit down with the beautiful, Amazon Princess. Thank you for sitting down with us for an installment of Cosplayer Highlight! I believe we met at Fan Expo 2014, I think you were the Wonder Woman I took a photo of in front of the Arkham Knight Batmobile. My memory is foggy, but is possible! But mainly, I came across your cosplay from the charity events you do!
WW: Thank you for this wonderful opportunity.
Droids: Easy/typical questions first. What was the first convention you attended? What was the most memorable part of that convention?
WW: My very first convention/comic con I attended was the Toronto Comic Con in 2014. I attended as myself without costume. The most memorable part of that convention was meeting so many wonderful people and seeing the amazing talents through their own cosplays.
Droids: You seem to have a very unique selection of WonderWoman cosplay that you have done. What was your inspiration for that?
WW: My Wonder Woman costume is a custom variation of both the classic and amazon warrior look. I have always been drawn to the Wonder Woman character and her origin as the Amazon Princess from Themyscira.
Droids: What was your favourite cosplay costume that you've done so far?
WW: Wonder Woman
Droids: Do you have a favourite convention? If so, which one is it, and why?
WW: I think my favourite convention for me would have to be Fan Expo. I have only attended one in 2014, but it was the first time I debuted Wonder Woman. It was a wonderful experience. I had the opportunity to meet Ivy Doomkitty and many other amazing cosplayers.
Droids: Why Wonder Woman? Besides the obvious as she is quite the badass character and such. Is there a backstory why you chose Wonder Woman to cosplay?
WW: I grew up watching Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman and adore her to this day and for me she will always be Wonder Woman. While researching various costume ideas, I was always drawn to the strong amazon warrior look the most and wanted to embody that look for my Wonder Woman. For me, the suit had to look authentic as if I was going into battle. Wonder Woman has played a significant part in who I am today. I wanted to make sure that along with being strong, compassionate and always wanting to help, that her true character came through. This is part of the reason I feel so connected with her. I love to help people with or without the costume and volunteer my time to various charity work and help to spread awareness on various causes that I hold close to my heart. I am a proud member of the Comic Corps of Canada. A group formed by superhero friends who deliver donated comic books to children in hospitals.
Droids: Knowing you love Wonder Woman, what are your thoughts on the new film coming out? And thoughts on Gal Gadot portraying the Amazon Princess?
WW: I'm very excited to finally see Wonder Woman on the big screen and think Gal Gadot will do a wonderful job in portraying the Amazon Princess.
Droids: Is there anything else you want to add about cosplay or yourself in general or perhaps promote something that may not have already been covered?
WW: I am very passionate about what I do as Wonder Woman. Giving back to the community and helping spread awareness on various causes makes me feel alive. I support any/all children's foundations and do attend charitable events. I'm a proud member of Comic Corps of Canada, www.comiccorps.ca. Having the opportunity to help children/adults is the best feeling in the world. When I can make someone smile and make them feel better/happy, it warms my heart and makes my heart smile. That is the best reward for doing what I do.
Droids: Wonder Woman, It was an absolute pleasure sitting down with you! Congratulations on your continued success! We hope to see you at a Convention some time! Maybe even Fan Expo in Toronto!
