Movie Review: Batman: Bad Blood
Updated: May 27, 2019
I saw the preview awhile back and I did not find the film overly interesting. It wasn’t until the Mountain man pointed it out to me that it was released and he was trying to determine if he should review it or not. Being as which I am more of a Batman fanboy than he is, I decided to give this film a shot.

With the masses waiting in anticipation of the animated adaptation of Bruce Timm’s “The Killing Joke,” WB Animated releases another installment to appease the masses. Being as which this was a film to loosely introduce Batwing and Batwoman, don't get your hopes up for a good showing.
As per Rotten Tomatoes: Bruce Wayne and his alter ego Batman go missing, so Batwoman undertakes a search while Robin and Nightwing patrol Gotham for Batman and Alfred substitutes for Bruce.

And then the disappointment began. My first and consistent concern from the past 4(if not more WB animated films) Jason O’Mara as Batman. Understanding, he played Batman in Arkham Origins, but it seems he is taking over the reins from Kevin Conroy. To be perfectly honest, I wish he wouldn't.
I grew up with Kevin Conroy, I hear his voice when reading Batman comics and his performance only solidifies he is Batman/Bruce Wayne. Jason O’Mara just doesn't do it for me. Thankfully, his role wasn't as large in this film. The Film focussed more around Nightwings role as Batman and Damian continued growth into the Robin Role. But they also add in Batwing(Lucas fox son of Lucius) and Batwoman(Kate Kane) for no real reason with flat story line tie ins.
And then there is the villains. Talia returns but with a completely different angle, Electrocutioner(who was knocked in 3 seconds in Arkham Origins), Firefly, Blockbuster(who I thought a Deadpool D-list villain, weird), the Madhatter(who looks alot like Abraham Lincoln) and a few unknown to me/D-List villains. I think casting so many villains was kind of unnecessary, especially when Heretic’s origins was explained. It took away from the impact it could have had.
Understanding this isn’t the first time that Bruce Wayne has gone missing and where Dick had to take up the cowl, but why use this story. Grant Morrison wrote some amazing series Nightwing and Damian that could have been 10 time better. This film felt like it was poorly put together just get a quick cash grab. Furthermore, if you are trying to a “Bat Family” reunion, why not bring in Red Hood and Batgirl as well? You saw Batgirl for a whole 2 seconds. Which even that was not needed.
Sorry this story was flat and very predictable. If this is the amount of effort they will put into their films, I worry for Killing Joke.
