The passing of a Metal God
Updated: May 27, 2019
Where were you when Lemmy died?
It was a wet and cold winter day in Welland, Ontario when I heard the news while playing Just Cause 3. Understanding the man is 70 years old, he can not complain from the life he lived. Being known as a "Metal God," and every generation alive knowing who he is, he can leave the planet knowing he left quite a legacy.
My generation and the previous generation, remember his metal classic "Ace of Spades" which was the song to have on every metal mix tape. If you were a metal head, you knew Ace of Spades. Just when you would think Motorhead would fade away, their music starts popping on popular game franchises such as Tony Hawk Pro Skater. Now, a new generation is brought into the fold. But just when you thought again they were done, they are now mainstream due to stints of music with the WWE.
I remember when HHH came out to "The Game" by Motorhead and it literally just popped the crowd at Wrestlemania 17. Motorhead followed up with 2 more songs for HHH with "Evolution" and the most recent "King of Kings."
Lemmy was a one of kind person. Thank you Lemmy.
